Updated: Apr 13, 2021

Hi everyone! Thank you for visiting my site and I hope everyone is doing okay despite the pandemic. As I write this, we are on the second week of community lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

My heart goes out to everyone who has been impacted by the turn of events in the past year. It took a while before my family was able to adjust to this new normal. My husband who has been working in the office his whole life has setup his home office and he now helps me with taking care of our 16-month-old baby. This gave me the idea that I, too can be more productive by working from home and get additional income for my household. Virtual Assistance immediately came to mind - There are no fixed timings and the working hours are flexible. This is the kind of flexibility a mom like me needed. We’re already stuck at home anyway. I can take care of my little one, do household chores and allot time for work as a virtual assistant as well. It is a regular job that doesn’t require me to come to office.

To navigate the waters of Virtual Assistance, I took an online course with Filipino Virtual Assistants Academy. You too can take courses that would help fast track your business plan. Resources are organized by experienced Vas who really know what they’re talking about. Having sites to establish your brand is a plus too. Sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or even Instagram that you usually visit everyday are very helpful in establishing your VA Brand.

What is a Virtual Assistant you may ask and what services does a Virtual Assistant provide? A Virtual Assistant or VA, is a person who works remotely doing tasks for a business or entrepreneur. These tasks can be anything from organizing a daily schedule, bookkeeping, social media management, answering phone calls, etc. This is not a new role in fact, they exist everywhere. Companies all over the world utilize VAs for a number of tasks because they cost a lot less than a full-time employee and they don’t have to pay benefits. They also require fewer overhead expenses than in-house professionals.

Because VAs work in different industries doing a variety of things, there are specific skill set needed to become a Virtual Assistant. Since I have a background in real estate, I narrowed down my target market and not move from one type of industry to another. I can now look for opportunities that require services of a Real Estate Virtual Assistant

I will cover Real Estate Virtual Assistance on my next blog. Watch out!
